St. Paul’s Cathedral – City of London

Sir Christopher Wren, the famous architect of this iconic building, may have known how spectacular this landmark would look during the day, but he couldn’t have possibly imagined how it would appear in the evening – especially in today’s modern world. The view of the cathedral at night is nothing short of amazing, the countless lights of the surrounding buildings illuminate the dome against the backdrop of the night sky giving you breathtaking photo opportunities.

For some of the best views of not only the cathedral, but the entire London skyline, venture across the colourful Millennium Bridge.  When your legs get tired, go and relax at the One New Change – Roof Terrace sporting unparalleled views of St. Paul’s Cathedral from its spacious bar and dining area.

St. Paul’s Cathedral also offers late night exhibitions of their Crypt so check out the events page on their official website for more information.

OXO Tower – South Bank

If you happen to be in the South Bank area consider stopping by this world renowned tower. Famous for its picturesque views that overlook the Thames river from the restaurant, a little known fact is that there is a lovely viewing gallery on the 8th floor of the building, freely open to the public. Open till the late hours of the evening, just ask at the bar to take you in the elevator to the platform to see some magnificent panoramas of the city.

This giant, revolving Ferris wheel is open till late and is a perfect way to enjoy the vast sprawl and lights of the city at night. As you ascend to it’s 135m peak, you will get a bird’s-eye view of the now beaming London skyline, with privileged views of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

The View from the Shard – Bankside

London’s newest addition to its skyline is the incredible Shard, standing at 1,004 ft in the air, it is the tallest building in Western Europe. As night begins to fall this phenomenal structure transforms into a glistening lighthouse as the tip of the tower shines a bright golden yellow. But wait there’s more, it also boasts a viewing platform at 802 ft in the sky, just what you thrill seekers have been waiting for! The View from the Shard is open till the evening and offers magical views of London, stretching over 40 miles into the distance.
