Shakespeare’s Family Homes

Online only deal.

Visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon for a truly unique journey through the life of the poet and playwright genius of William Shakespeare. You’ll learn about his upbringing, his family life and the places and events that inspired and helped shape his greatest works.

Highlights

Visit Shakespeare’s Birthplace to walk in Shakespeare’s footsteps and explore the house where he was born and spent his childhood and early married life. Hear fascinating tales of 16th century family life, and see the workshop where his father John ran his prestigious trade as a glove maker.

Wander through the “Famous Beyond Words” exhibition and get up close to rare artefacts, memorabilia and artwork from the world’s largest public Shakespeare museum.

Explore the Shakespeare/Hathaway love story at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage home to Shakespeare’s bride-to-be Anne Hathaway and to generations of her family over the centuries. With acres of beautiful cottage gardens, orchards, and sculpture trails, it’s an idyllic rural retreat to explore.

The site of Shakespeare’s family home, New Place, which was demolished over 250 years ago, has been transformed into a new experience with breath-taking sculptures and beautifully-restored gardens and an exhibition celebrating the 400th anniversary of the publication of the First Folio.

  1. First Visit

I have been to SOA hundreds of times (live in Birmingham only 20 miles away) and to my shame never visited until today. I took my 8 year old son and signed up for 5 house 12 month multiple visit ticket for 2 adults + 4children: £47 which is great value. T he experience was fantastic and my son was fascinated by the exhibition and the house. The tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable. Special mention for the on site actors (Neil) who will deliver a Shakespeare speech request by the visitors. Will be coming back for more!

    1. Dear John,
Thank you so much for your lovely comments! Glad you enjoyed your visit to the Shakespeare’s Houses in Stratford and saved big with our Smartsave discount!
With best regards from all of us at Smartsave!

  2. Fascinating visit ... after visit / & great value

We love taking our visitors and family – especially grandchildren – to Mary Arden Farm (the best of the five for us) and other sites when we can. Shakespeare’s Birthplace is fascinating – and we love the impromptu actors who will perform excerpts from plays and sonnets on request. And Anne Hathaway’s Cottage is absolutely delightful.
This is thoroughly worthwhile, excellent value, and provides hours & days of enjoyment for us and our family and visitors.
