Escape to this wildlife oasis, perfect for all the family!
WWT London Wetland Centre
An urban oasis for wildlife and people, just 10 minutes from Hammersmith. Stroll among the lakes, ponds and gardens. The café is perfect for relaxing, and kids will love the play areas.
The Wetland Centre in London attracts thousands of wild birds to the lakes, ponds, meadows and reedbeds that make up the nature reserve.
Visitors can explore the natural environment and observe the numerous resident and itinerant inhabitants from purpose-built, camouflaged hides. Otter feeds are available and there are wonderful opportunities to view colourful water birds from around the world.
Younger visitors will also love to explore the play zones.
A circuit around the London Wetland Centre should take a couple of hours, and a well-earned break can be taken in the on-site cafe, serving lunches and drinks.
Whatever the weather, a day out at the Wetland Centre will long live in the memory as one of the best experiences of London that no nature-lover could ever miss.

Saturday 28 April - Dawn Chorus (5.00am)
This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the wonderful wildlife reserve before daybreak as they celebrate international dawn chorus day. Everyone, from people with a passing interest in wildlife to keen birders, can enjoy listening to the birds sing as the sun rises over the reed beds, lakes and ponds.
Book your tickets now for one of the guided tours at 5.00am. The walk will take you out on to the reserve as the sun comes up. Their expert guides will take you around the reserve to discover what is around, and help you identify the birds by their song. We can't guarantee exactly which birds will be singing on the day, but you're likely to hear calls and birdsong from a range of species from Cetti's warblers to lapwings!
At the end of the walk enjoy a cup of tea or coffee with breakfast before you head off out again for a day of self-guided birdwatching. Gates open at 5.00am (walk starts at 5.15am) but only ticket holders will be admitted. Please bring your own binoculars and wrap up warm.

Exhibitions & Events
The following events are included with your entry ticket:
Otter feeding times 11am and 2pm
Meet our otters – our very own swimming superstars! Watch the otters playing, foraging, feeding, swimming and grooming. You’ll even be able to watch them sleeping in their specially designed holt, although this species of otter is more active during the day than some of the 13 other species found worldwide. Asian short-clawed otters are the smallest otters in the world and live well together in family groups, unlike most other otters which tend to be solitary. They often play games which helps their young to develop hunting skills.
Join our wardens as they feed the beautiful water birds from around the globe. Discover more about WWT's conservation work and the birds we are helping to save from extinction.
Daily at 3pm.
Please note that the Centre closes at 3pm on Christmas Eve, so there will not be a public bird feed on that day. However you will still be able to attend the otter feed at 2pm. The Centre is closed on Christmas Day.
Join us for some of our daily Spotlight talks to discover more about the history of the Centre and the animals that live here.
We planted 27,000 trees, 300,000 plants and uncovered a bomb while creating the Centre! You can see one of the biggest ducks in the world and discover which bird has remained almost unchanged since the time of the dinosaurs. Or come and discover more about one of the planet’s rarest geese.
Each talk is approximately 15 minutes long. See the board in Admissions each day for talks and times.
