There are many ways to see London, whether by iconic red double-decker buses, the Tube, a black taxi cab or even on one of Mayor Boris’ bikes!
But if there’s one vehicle that is synonymous with London at its most hip, during the Swinging Sixties, it’s the Mini Cooper. And what better way to get round a big city than in a small car with cachet and class about it?
Small Car Big City is just about the coolest way there is to see the capital, allowing you to take in all the sights as your chauffeur whisks you about in 60s threads, all set to a period soundtrack that would have Mick, Keef, Paul and Ringo doing a double-take!
Small Car Big City goes off the beaten track and allows you to take a London tour with a Mini at your own pace and following your own unique bespoke itinerary and route. You can’t get much more exclusive than Mini Cooper London sightseeing, with a guide who knows the ins and outs of every major London tourist attraction and will be happy to give you the low-down and answer any questions that you have on your Mini Cooper
Retro London Tour.
Each car that Small Car Big City offers has been restored to the highest standards and makes for the ideal ride to take in the sights on the various options for a London tour with a Mini. These are:
Royal London Approx: 30 Minutes
Not got much time to spare in the capital? Then take a capital ride in every sense of the word with a whistle-stop journey that takes in everything that you need to know about the regal sites of London, as well as a drive-by the Prime Minister’s Whitehall residence at 10, Downing Street. You’ll have a right royal time!
The A-list Tour Approx: 1 Hour
You can expand on the Royal Tour to take in all the most celebrated addresses in the capital, where the lives of the rich and famous really are played out in that most grand of London districts, Mayfair, rounding off your regal ride with a trip along that most exclusive of thorough-bred thoroughfares, Park Lane.
The Italian Job - Most Popular! Approx: 1.5 Hours
If you’d like to relive the classic Michael Caine heist flick of 1966, but without blowing the bloody doors off, then this is the Job for you. Wearing a blue boiler suit and tweed flat-cap like the drivers in the movie, you’ll take a backstreet tour of London’s winding streets, though a dash down the steps of St. Paul’s Cathedral and a drive through the Victorian sewers is not necessarily recommended!
A Bridge Too Far Approx: 2 Hours
London is famous for many things, and its beating heart is the River Thames, which is criss-crossed by a series of magnificent bridges, including the wondrous Tower Bridge, Westminster Bridge in the lee of the Houses Of Parliament, and Vauxhall Bridge, flanked by the HQs of MI5 and MI6. This tour takes you back and forth across Old Man Thames, using no fewer than five of the city’s most celebrated crossing points, though not London Bridge itself, which far from falling down ended being bought in the 60s and shipped to a desert in the USA! Fortunately London retained its most picturesque crossings, and you won’t have to traverse the bridge that went too far!
The Great Escape Approx: 3 Hours
While London is awash with amazing architecture and a host of World Heritage Sites, every Londoner knows that its hidden secret, and an oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of city life, is its many grand green and pleasant parks. Hyde Park and the Serpentine, Green Park, Regents’, and the list goes on. This tour allows you to kick back and to take in three of the best, each with its own distinctive character and features, from water features to sculptures, ornamental gardens and lofty trees. And as well as learning about London’s historic heart, the tour winds up at the most historic recording studios in the world, Abbey Road, where you can see the zebra crossing used by The Beatles and marvel at the building where everyone who was anyone in the 60s, 70s and beyond cut their most famous songs. Groovy!
Tale Of Two Cities Tour Minimum: 5 hrs
See the best that capital has to offer in the best little car Britain has ever produced. Then, after a thrilling hour, take the Eurostar from the recently remodelled and stunning St. Pancras International station – which boasts the longest champagne bar in the world! – to your waiting Eurostar train. From here, it’s a wonderful 120-minute journey to Paris Gare du Nord, where a 60-minute tour of Paris by car awaits. A tale of two cities that is second to none, by Dickens!
