Une cathédrale dédiée à Saint Paul domine la City de Londres depuis 604 ap. J-C, comme un rappel constant de l'importance de la vie spirituelle au cœur de ce grand centre de commerce. La cathédrale actuelle, quatrième édifice bâti à cet emplacement, a été dessinée par l'architecte de la Cour Sir Christopher Wren et construite de 1675 à 1710, après que la précédente ait été détruite dans le Grand Incendie de Londres.
NB : les visiteurs munis d'un code Smartsave sont priés de se présenter à l'entrée "North West Crypt Door" au St Paul's Churchyard afin d'entrer dans la cathédrale sans faire la queue. Quand vous vous trouvez devant les portes principales de la cathédrale, l'entrée par la Crypte prioritaire est sur la gauche de l'édifice, à environ 10 m de distance.
